Tips For Viewing The Class Photos
We have 'super-sized' these Class Photos to present the best possible detail and they are designed for full-screen viewing in your browser. If the image that is displayed isn't clear or has other imperfections it's because those imperfections existed in the originals. However, we do plan to enhance these photos when time allows.
We've scanned these Class Photos at a high resolution to allow close-up viewing. As a result, they are quite large and may take a minute to load with a broadband connection [take a nap with dial-up].
The following hints are for the folks who aren't familiar with the browser features for full-screen mode or for the auto-sizing of images. If you are not familiar with both of these, please take the time to read the following, as understanding these two features will greatly enhance the viewing of the Class Photos.
These images are best viewed with your browser in 'full-screen' mode. The following are hints about using that mode in your browser:
To go into full-screen viewing mode press the <F11> key. Press it again to exit full-screen mode. You can toggle back and forth between modes at any time.
When you enter this mode, the tool bars at the top and the status bars at the bottom of the browser are suppressed and so is the Windows task bar. The body of the browser [the image in this case] is displayed filling up the entire screen.
Since the page navigation arrows are now gone, use the <Backspace> key to go to the 'previous page' and the <Shift>+<Backspace> keys to go to the 'next page'.
If you move the <cursor> to the very top of the screen, the tabs will appear and you can click on them to go there. You can also toggle between tabs with <Ctrl>+<PageUp> keys and <Ctrl>+<PageDown> keys.
If you haven't used full-screen mode before you might find it useful for many websites, not just ours.
These large Class Photos are probably bigger than what will fit on your screen. The following are hints about viewing very large images:
When you click on a thumbnail, the image should show 'auto-sized' in your browser. Auto-sizing is a browser feature that shrinks the image to fit onto the physical size of your screen.
If you can see the entire image after clicking on the thumbnail then this auto-size feature is turned on in your browser and you are all set [it is the default in most browsers]. If the image does not initially all fit on your screen then the auto-size feature is turned off. You might want to try changing this feature to be on. Do so by changing the settings in your browser.
Auto-sizing will shrink the image to fit the physical size of your screen. Then, when you move the <cursor> over the image, a magnifying glass will appear with a "+" in it.
When you place this magnifying glass at some point on the image and then click on it, the image will be magnified at the location.
You can then click again to go back to reduced size, move the <cursor> somewhere else to magnify, etc. etc.
Also, while the image is magnified you can use the scroll bars to move around in the magnified image.
